Humans of Prodigal: Sheyril Argawal

As soon as Machine Learning Engineer Sheyril Argawal joined Prodigal, we brought her to our Mountain View office where she worked with our CEO and some of our AI leaders, including Harsh Pareek.

Originally from Delhi, Sheyril studied at BITS Pilani Hyderabad, where she received a Bachelors of Engineering in Computer Science and a Masters of Science in Economics. She was a research assistant at the University of Michigan and now works at Prodigal's Mumbai office.

Why Prodigal?

Initially, when I was talking to the people at Prodigal, I really liked how they innovated on their machine learning models, how they iterated over it. I liked the space for both research and implementation, and I thought that'd be a good fit for me.

The joy of being a machine learning engineer is that there's multiple layers of complexity that you have to figure out and see how do we mitigate or handle certain conditions.

When I'm not working, you can find me...

I've been exploring Mumbai on the weekends. I've become a bit of a foodie, and Mumbai has a lot of old Parsi food joints, so I've been trying those. When I used to come to Mumbai just to visit I used to have this rule of trying one vada pav every day, I'd ask people "Where did you eat the best vada pav in the area?" I'd get five recommendations if I'm there for five days, and I'd have one every day.

What would your co-workers be surprised to know about you?

There's this whole art side of me that no one really knows about. I used to be into graphic designing. I used to try to take out an hour or two on the weekend to paint. It's very relaxing.

I was very into watercolors recently. I like to experiment with mediums more. I've recently gotten into gouache, which is very fun to learn new layering techniques to create depth. I think my favorite thing to paint is clouds. They can exist in so many colors and you can just experiment with those.

What's your favorite Prodigal value?

I like Bias to Action the most. A couple of weeks into joining the company, I was given the chance to visit the Mountain View office here. And overall, I just liked the fact that we don't wait around before we implement something, you're allowed to take action and also take the accountability for it.

Want to work with Sheyril and the other humans of Prodigal as we pioneer consumer finance intelligence? We’re hiring!
